Wisdom Teeth Removal Midland

Wisdom Teeth Removal in Midland

Why it’s wise to have them removed

Wisdom teeth, also often referred to as “third molars”, are usually the last teeth to come through the gums. This usually occurs in the late teens to early twenties, but sometimes older.

Most people have four wisdom teeth, some have one, two or three and some people have no wisdom teeth.

Wisdom teeth cause problems when there’s not enough space in the jaws to accommodate them. This is what leads to wisdom teeth becoming wedged or “impacted”. Some wisdom teeth remain under the gum line and cause no discomfort. However, impacted wisdom teeth may cause severe problems such as pushing teeth out of alignment or infection.

Wisdom tooth removal is a very common procedure and should be done as soon as possible before the problems advance. If your wisdom teeth are likely to be difficult or complicated to remove, our dentist may refer you to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, someone specially trained in surgery of the mouth, teeth, gums and jaws.

At Helena Street Dental Midland our dental team is highly experienced in removing wisdom teeth. This procedure may be completed in our practice. Following your comprehensive examination, which will often include detailed x-rays, we will develop a personalised treatment plan.

You can make an appointment online or call us on (08) 9250 3100. Please feel free to drop in at our practice. We are located at 2/42 Victoria Street, Midland WA 6056.
